Overall B-

The Commanders found their guy under center in Williams: B-.

Start where it matters. The Commanders took Caleb Williams to run the offense for the next decade, and every other decision this weekend bends around that one. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

They are betting Jones proves the room right and everyone else wrong. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They left with tight end solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Caleb Williams
In No. 2 they get a long-term answer under center at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick36 Rnd2 Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper in the 36th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick40 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
By-the-book stuff, Tyler Nubin at the 40th overall pick squarely in line with his ranking. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick67 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
They liked Sedrick Van Pran enough to skip the value, taking him in slot 67. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick101 Rnd4 Javon Foster
A real head-scratcher, Javon Foster in pick No. 101 is miles ahead of his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick103 Rnd4 Christian Jones
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Christian Jones well ahead of where he belonged. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick138 Rnd5 Javion Cohen
This one needs a full-page explanation: Javion Cohen in pick 138, miles early. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick181 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in the Round 6 slot is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick220 Rnd6 Brevyn Spann-Ford
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Brevyn Spann-Ford. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
