The Cowboys finally solved quarterback, and it carried them to a D.

Nobody else had Eric Watts anywhere near the 184th pick. The Cowboys did, by 46 spots, and that gap is the whole story. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.

J.J. McCarthy gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. The trade table is where this weekend went wrong.

It is not that Kneeland is a bad player; it is that the Cowboys had louder needs to answer first. The cornerback spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and cornerback is still a hole.
