Draft Grade — Jaguars
Overall

ValueB

TradesD-
FutureB-
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Jaguars to a C+. The phones were a trap the Jaguars kept walking into, shipping out surplus on nearly every deal.
They punted on wide receiver, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. On value alone, Ersery makes the weekend a net positive.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with offensive lineman chief among the fixes.
Hit on Kenneth Grant and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 25th pick they get a wrecking ball inside. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick36
Rnd2
Tyler Booker
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyler Booker. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick58
Rnd2
Aireontae Ersery
The board had Aireontae Ersery higher than slot 58, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick70
Rnd3
Deone Walker
A reasonable price with a little left over, Deone Walker in the 70th overall pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick88
Rnd3
Mason Taylor
Mason Taylor slid further than he should have, and the Round 3 slot is lovely value for the tight end. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
They took Denzel Burke at par in No. 89, which is nothing to complain about. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
