Draft Grade — Bears

FutureA+
A sensible, unshowy class lands the Bears a B. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Bears shredded theirs for Richard Jibunor. He came off 95 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.
The Legette pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped running back, which is a strange place to end up.
The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but running back.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In the 1st overall pick they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A real need, handled.
Pick30
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In slot 30 they get a weapon on the perimeter, outstanding value to boot. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick47
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick68
Rnd3
Chris Braswell
Chris Braswell at No. 68 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick104
Rnd4
James Williams
James Williams at pick No. 104 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick115
Rnd4
Zach Frazier
They paid up for Zach Frazier at the 115th pick when waiting would have done the job. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
Tyler Guyton
They took Tyler Guyton at par in Round 4, Pick 32, which is nothing to complain about. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick141
Rnd5
Gabe Hall
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Gabe Hall well ahead of where he belonged. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick182
Rnd6
Cam Hart
Cam Hart at the 182nd pick is money in the bank, a cornerback taken below his worth. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick193
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
Jaylan Ford in pick No. 193 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick225
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
Richard Jibunor in slot 225 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. Where it fits the depth chart is the real question.
