Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Quarterback settled, Simpson in the fold, and a B- for the Browns.

The search is over. The Browns handed the keys to Ty Simpson, and the whole operation now runs on his development. It nets out to a B-, which feels about right.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. They are betting Claiborne proves the room right and everyone else wrong.

Lee III falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. Quarterback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick6 Rnd1 Ty Simpson
In slot 6 they get their quarterback of the future, even if it was a touch early. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick24 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In pick 24 they get a matchup problem out wide. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick39 Rnd2 Emmanuel Pregnon
Emmanuel Pregnon at No. 39 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick70 Rnd3 Will Lee III
The board had Will Lee III higher than Round 3, Pick 6, and the cornerback fell to them anyway. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick107 Rnd4 Demond Claiborne
They liked Demond Claiborne enough to skip the value, taking him in pick No. 107. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick139 Rnd5 Kage Casey
Kage Casey in the Round 5 slot lands just on the right side of the ledger. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick144 Rnd5 Bryce Boettcher
A premium they did not need to pay, Bryce Boettcher a notch or two before his time. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick147 Rnd5 Connor Tollison
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Connor Tollison. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick204 Rnd6 Jalon Daniels
Nice patience on Jalon Daniels, who had no business lasting to No. 204. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick248 Rnd7 Jalil Farooq
No drama and no debate, Jalil Farooq went about where he belonged in pick No. 248. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
