Draft Grade — Jets
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A respectable, level-headed haul for the Jets: B.

There is reaching, and then there is Carson Beck at slot 44. The Jets jumped the board by 33 and dared it to prove them wrong. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.

Johnson falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. For all the activity, interior defensive lineman went untouched, which is hard to explain. They left with quarterback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Bottom line, more hits than misses and a roster nudged the right way.

Pick Analysis
Pick2 Rnd1 Rueben Bain Jr.
In the 2nd overall pick they get a bendy edge with upside at fair value. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick16 Rnd1 Jordyn Tyson
In the Round 1 slot they get a No. 1 receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick33 Rnd2 Sonny Styles
Sonny Styles at pick No. 33 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick44 Rnd2 Carson Beck
Carson Beck at Round 2, Pick 12 is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick103 Rnd4 Emmett Johnson
Taking Emmett Johnson in pick 103 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick175 Rnd5 Kobe Baynes
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Kobe Baynes at the 175th pick. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick178 Rnd5 Sawyer Robertson
Sawyer Robertson at Round 5, Pick 40 nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick192 Rnd6 Antonio Kite
Nothing to complain about; Antonio Kite went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206 Rnd6 Nolan Rucci
No drama and no debate, Nolan Rucci went about where he belonged in pick 206. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick209 Rnd6 Peyton Bowen
They took Peyton Bowen at par in slot 209, which is nothing to complain about. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick218 Rnd7 Hykeem Williams
Hykeem Williams at the Round 7 slot is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick242 Rnd7 Will Kacmarek
Will Kacmarek at No. 242 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
