The Bills checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. There is conviction, and then there is this. The Bills took Xavier Worthy a full 23 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend.
They covered a lot of ground and still skipped linebacker, which is a strange place to end up. The trade work was a quiet net positive. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.
Nearly every premium pick went to that side of the ball.
In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
Pick Analysis
Pick28
Rnd1
Terrion Arnold
In Round 1, Pick 28 they get an island corner. Need was not the driver here.
Pick33
Rnd2
Xavier Worthy
They talked themselves into Xavier Worthy at slot 33, and the board did not agree. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick129
Rnd4
Tykee Smith
Tykee Smith in No. 129 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. The roster fit checks out.
Pick159
Rnd5
Braiden McGregor
A reach on Braiden McGregor in the 159th overall pick; the board had better options right there. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick162
Rnd5
Khristian Boyd
They went early on Khristian Boyd in pick No. 162, and the value did not follow. It fills a real need, too.
