Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Texans
Overall

FutureB-
The Texans checked most of the boxes and earned a B-. The Texans torched the value chart for Isaac TeSlaa, taking him 70 spots sooner than anyone had him slotted.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Sampson. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. Running back was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job.
A workmanlike haul that should hold up just fine.
Pick Analysis
Pick25
Rnd1
Kenneth Grant
In the 25th overall pick they get a load in the middle. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58
Rnd2
Dylan Fairchild
This one needs a full-page explanation: Dylan Fairchild in Round 2, Pick 26, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
Pick79
Rnd3
Ozzy Trapilo
A straight-up fair deal on Ozzy Trapilo at the 79th pick, value and slot in agreement. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick89
Rnd3
Dylan Sampson
Dylan Sampson in pick 89 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick166
Rnd5
Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa at the Round 5 slot is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick236
Rnd7
Craig Woodson
Steal is underselling it; Craig Woodson at slot 236 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick241
Rnd7
Theo Wease Jr.
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Theo Wease Jr. at the Round 7 slot is the proof. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
