Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B-
ValueC NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The Texans kept it disciplined and banked a B-.

If confidence were a draft strategy, the Texans would have aced it. Collin Oliver at No. 236 is 58 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.

The quarterback hole is the one line item this class does not answer. Running back is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it. The trenches got the money picks, top to bottom.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick25 Rnd1 Tyler Booker
In pick 25 they get a blindside protector, though they paid up to get him. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jack Bech
Jack Bech at No. 58 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick79 Rnd3 Deone Walker
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Deone Walker. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick89 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
Jared Wilson at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick166 Rnd5 Raheim Sanders
They liked Raheim Sanders enough to skip the value, taking him in the 166th overall pick. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick236 Rnd7 Collin Oliver
They talked themselves into Collin Oliver at slot 236, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick241 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
Isaac TeSlaa in pick 241 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
