Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueC- NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB
The Texans turned the phones into found money: B.

Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Collin Oliver at the Round 6 slot is 89 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B.

The phones were where this weekend was really won. However the rest shakes out, Ransaw at that price is a win they earned. Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick29 Rnd1 Cameron Williams
In the 29th pick they get a plug-and-play piece up front, a steep price for the projection. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick58 Rnd2 Jack Bech
They went early on Jack Bech in No. 58, and the value did not follow. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Deone Walker
Deone Walker in the 79th overall pick is fair value, right on his grade. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
They let Isaiah Bond come to them and pounced at pick 89. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick128 Rnd4 Brashard Smith
A premium they did not need to pay, Brashard Smith a notch or two before his time. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick166 Rnd5 Jonah Monheim
A conviction pick on Jonah Monheim at slot 166 that the board grades a round light. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick205 Rnd6 Collin Oliver
A wild overpay on Collin Oliver in No. 205, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick236 Rnd7 Caleb Ransaw
A safety of that caliber at Round 7, Pick 20 is the definition of value, full stop. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick241 Rnd7 Isaac TeSlaa
No drama and no debate, Isaac TeSlaa went about where he belonged in the Round 7 slot. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
