Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall F
ValueB- NeedB TradesF FutureD
A weekend the 49ers spent ahead of the board, for worse: F.

Every swap seemed to tilt away from the 49ers, and the value they bled adds up to real damage.

Every board in the league had Singleton lower, and that gap is the story. With quarterback unsolved, spending premium capital on cornerback is the choice that costs them.

That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Fields falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers.

The verdict is harsh because the weekend was, and there is little to argue.

Pick Analysis
Pick32 Rnd1 Denzel Boston
In the 32nd pick they get a weapon on the perimeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick44 Rnd2 Nicholas Singleton
A big swing on Nicholas Singleton at No. 44, well ahead of any board in the building. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick48 Rnd2 Derrick Moore
A clean, defensible pick in Round 2, Pick 16 with a little surplus value in Derrick Moore. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick60 Rnd2 Isaiah World
Isaiah World is a better player than the 60th overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jaeden Roberts
Jaeden Roberts in the Round 3 slot is fair value, right on his grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick80 Rnd3 Parker Brailsford
A wild overpay on Parker Brailsford in slot 80, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick92 Rnd3 Monroe Freeling
A reach for Monroe Freeling in pick No. 92; a little patience would have been rewarded. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick93 Rnd3 Oscar Delp
They talked themselves into Oscar Delp at pick 93, and the board did not agree. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick94 Rnd3 Sonny Styles
Value with a capital V on Sonny Styles in slot 94, a genuine coup. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick95 Rnd3 Keon Sabb
Keon Sabb slid further than he should have, and the 95th pick is lovely value for the safety. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick96 Rnd3 D'Angelo Ponds
A tidy bit of business in pick 96, where D'Angelo Ponds graded well above the range. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick103 Rnd4 Malachi Fields
Malachi Fields in No. 103 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick108 Rnd4 Harold Perkins Jr.
A slide stopped in pick No. 108, with Harold Perkins Jr. worth more than the price. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick112 Rnd4 Daylen Everette
A want over a need in the 112th overall pick: Daylen Everette adds a cornerback while quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick128 Rnd4 Rod Moore
The needs board was loud and they turned it down, spending the Round 4 slot on Rod Moore with quarterback unsolved.
Pick134 Rnd4 DeMonte Capehart
DeMonte Capehart in Round 4, Pick 32 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick137 Rnd4 Braylan Shelby
They left a pile of value on the table to take Braylan Shelby this early at Round 4, Pick 35. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick167 Rnd5 Barion Brown
The board had cheaper options than Barion Brown at the 167th pick, and it noticed. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick174 Rnd5 J.Michael Sturdivant
They reached into another round for J.Michael Sturdivant, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick206 Rnd6 Dominic Zvada
They paid a round early for Dominic Zvada in pick 206, more than the board wanted. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick241 Rnd7 Akheem Mesidor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Akheem Mesidor in the Round 7 slot, miles early. The roster fit checks out.
