Call it a hunch or call it a gamble, but the 49ers spent slot 167 on Dominic Zvada, a name most had 55 spots down the list. Little went right, and the F does not pretend otherwise.

They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

They will answer for taking safety early while quarterback went begging. Weeks at that cost is the sort of edge that compounds over a roster.
