Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall B
ValueB NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
The 49ers won the night they stopped Sanders from sliding. Grade: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the 49ers were there to profit. Raheim Sanders, the No. 180 name on the board, should have been long gone before No. 227. It does the job without flash, and the B reflects it.

Leaving quarterback unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They left with offensive lineman solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.

Add it up and it is a good, unfussy class.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Kelvin Banks Jr.
In No. 11 they get a building block for the line. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43 Rnd2 Trey Amos
They took Trey Amos at par in pick 43, which is nothing to complain about. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75 Rnd3 TreVeyon Henderson
TreVeyon Henderson at the Round 3 slot is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
No edge and no loss on Jared Wilson in slot 100; it is a wash and a sensible one. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick113 Rnd4 Miles Frazier
They paid sticker price for Miles Frazier in the 113th overall pick, and that is fine. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick138 Rnd4 Cody Simon
Fair-plus on Cody Simon, a quiet win that adds up over a draft. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick147 Rnd5 Pat Bryant
Pat Bryant in Round 5, Pick 9 is fair value, right on his grade. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick160 Rnd5 Mitchell Evans
Nice patience on Mitchell Evans, who had no business lasting to pick No. 160. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick227 Rnd7 Raheim Sanders
They robbed the room for Raheim Sanders here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick249 Rnd7 Kitan Crawford
Kitan Crawford at the 249th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick252 Rnd7 Zeek Biggers
By-the-book stuff, Zeek Biggers at slot 252 squarely in line with his ranking. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
