Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
A-
ValueB-

TradesA+
FutureA+
The Browns won the weekend at the trade table. Grade: A-. Nobody had Willie Lampkin this high, and it is not close. The Browns reached 36 spots to get him at the 139th pick. This is how you run a draft, and the A- reflects it.
The dealing alone would carry a lesser class. However the rest shakes out, Warren at that price is a win they earned.
That edge rusher hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
The kind of weekend a front office frames and hangs on the wall.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Jalon Walker
In the 24th overall pick they get a sideline-to-sideline linebacker. More want than need.
Pick44
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
Tyler Warren in Round 2, Pick 12 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick67
Rnd3
Quinshon Judkins
Quinshon Judkins in slot 67 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick76
Rnd3
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at pick 76 is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick94
Rnd3
Andrew Mukuba
Andrew Mukuba slipping to No. 94 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick139
Rnd5
Willie Lampkin
A big swing on Willie Lampkin at the 139th pick, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick179
Rnd6
Luke Lachey
They reached a country mile for Luke Lachey at the 179th overall pick, and the board is aghast. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jaydon Blue
A slide stopped in pick 187, with Jaydon Blue worth more than the price. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick192
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
They paid up for Nazir Stackhouse at the Round 6 slot when waiting would have done the job. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick200
Rnd6
Alijah Huzzie
They jumped the gun on Alijah Huzzie, taking him earlier than his grade liked. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick228
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
No edge and no loss on Cam Jackson in Round 7, Pick 12; it is a wash and a sensible one. It fills a real need, too.
Pick244
Rnd7
LaJohntay Wester
LaJohntay Wester in No. 244 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick255
Rnd7
Cody Lindenberg
A market-rate linebacker, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cody Lindenberg. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
