The phones sank the Panthers this weekend: D+. There was a run on nobody at that position, and the Panthers started one anyway for Ben Sinnott, 50 picks ahead of schedule.
The dealing is the wound this class cannot quite close. It is not that Smith is a bad player; it is that the Panthers had louder needs to answer first. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.
That is a wide receiver worth more than the slot they spent on him, plainly.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
