Draft Grade — Panthers

FutureB
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Panthers to a D. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Ben Sinnott at Round 3, Pick 25 is 44 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline. The process wobbled, and the D is where it lands.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. Landing Turner that late papers over a lot of smaller sins. The imported veterans give this class a floor the draft picks could not on their own.
A rough weekend that leaves the roster with more questions than answers.
Pick Analysis
Pick31
Rnd1
Dallas Turner
In the 31st overall pick they get a disruptor off the edge, and a steal at that. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick35
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at pick 35, value and slot in agreement. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick46
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in slot 46 is fair value, right on his grade. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick52
Rnd2
Keon Coleman
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Keon Coleman in the 52nd pick. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick54
Rnd2
Sedrick Van Pran
Sedrick Van Pran in No. 54 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick55
Rnd2
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick No. 55 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick61
Rnd2
J.J. McCarthy
Nice patience on J.J. McCarthy, who had no business lasting to the Round 2 slot. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick65
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
By-the-book stuff, Kiran Amegadjie at Round 3, Pick 1 squarely in line with his ranking. It fills a real need, too.
Pick67
Rnd3
Jaylen Wright
A conviction pick on Jaylen Wright at slot 67 that the board grades a round light. The roster fit checks out.
Pick68
Rnd3
Cooper Beebe
A reach on Cooper Beebe in the 68th overall pick; the board had better options right there. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick70
Rnd3
Javon Bullard
They let Javon Bullard come to them and pounced at pick 70. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick72
Rnd3
Austin Booker
They liked Austin Booker enough to skip the value, taking him in the 72nd pick. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick73
Rnd3
Kris Abrams-Draine
A market-rate cornerback, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Kris Abrams-Draine. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick76
Rnd3
Brenden Rice
Value said wait; Brenden Rice in pick No. 76 says they were not listening. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick78
Rnd3
Dominick Puni
Dominick Puni at pick 78 is a conviction pick that outran the value. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick79
Rnd3
Cade Stover
No edge and no loss on Cade Stover in the 79th pick; it is a wash and a sensible one. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick80
Rnd3
Bralen Trice
A tidy bit of business in No. 80, where Bralen Trice graded well above the range. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick82
Rnd3
Michael Hall Jr.
They paid sticker price for Michael Hall Jr. in the Round 3 slot, and that is fine. Pure best-available; the position was not exactly begging.
Pick83
Rnd3
Malik Washington
They went early on Malik Washington in slot 83, and the value did not follow. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick88
Rnd3
Ben Sinnott
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Ben Sinnott. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
