The 49ers cashed the board's mistake on Tuten: B-.

The rest of the league will want that one back. Bhayshul Tuten tumbling to the 49ers in the Round 7 slot is a gift they did not have to think twice about. No fireworks, but a solid B-.

The cost of the Griffith reach is exactly the players who went right after him. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Armand Membou
In the Round 1 slot they get a building block for the line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick43 Rnd2 Donovan Ezeiruaku
They went early on Donovan Ezeiruaku in slot 43, and the value did not follow. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick75 Rnd3 Deone Walker
A reach for Deone Walker in the 75th overall pick; a little patience would have been rewarded. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick100 Rnd3 Jared Wilson
By-the-book stuff, Jared Wilson at the 100th pick squarely in line with his ranking. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick113 Rnd4 Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa at pick No. 113 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick138 Rnd4 Jordan Phillips
Taking Jordan Phillips in pick 138 is close to grand larceny; an interior defensive lineman that good had no business lasting this long. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick147 Rnd5 Kevin Winston Jr.
They robbed the room for Kevin Winston Jr. here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick160 Rnd5 Clay Webb
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Clay Webb. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick227 Rnd7 Dont'e Thornton Jr.
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 227th pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick249 Rnd7 Bhayshul Tuten
Steal is underselling it; Bhayshul Tuten at pick 249 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick252 Rnd7 Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith in slot 252 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
