FutureB+
The Lions let Greenfield fall and pounced. Final grade: B+. The Lions did not reach, did not trade up, did not blink. They just waited, and Garret Greenfield fell into Round 7, Pick 29. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
If Wilson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Every deal seemed to tilt their way, which is not luck. They will regret leaving edge rusher for another day if the season turns on it.
The Joe Thuney pickup adds a known quantity to a class of unknowns.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but edge rusher.
Pick Analysis
Pick39
Rnd2
T'Vondre Sweat
T'Vondre Sweat in No. 39 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick95
Rnd3
Johnny Wilson
Johnny Wilson in slot 95 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick104
Rnd4
Calen Bullock
Somehow Calen Bullock was still sitting there in the 104th overall pick, and they pounced on premier safety value. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick121
Rnd4
Cam Hart
They robbed the room for Cam Hart here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick164
Rnd5
Kamal Hadden
Kamal Hadden at pick 164 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick201
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
No edge and no loss on Jared Wiley in pick No. 201; it is a wash and a sensible one. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick205
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They took Jaylan Ford at par in the Round 6 slot, which is nothing to complain about. It fills a real need, too.
Pick249
Rnd7
Garret Greenfield
Steal is underselling it; Garret Greenfield at Round 7, Pick 29 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
