There is conviction, and then there is this. The Lions took Elijah Roberts a full 83 picks ahead of where the board had him, an overdraft steep enough that it colors the whole weekend. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Monheim. They punted on linebacker, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but linebacker.

A offensive lineman of that caliber at slot 198 is the definition of value, full stop. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.

Logan Parr at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.

Akili Arnold at the 230th overall pick is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.

The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Tommy Akingbesote. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
