The needs board said one thing and the Lions did another, using the 84th overall pick on Maason Smith while linebacker, quarterback and other spots waited.

The Duck pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. They will regret leaving linebacker for another day if the season turns on it. They banked enough surplus on Turner to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Cornerback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the linebacker spot they never got to.
