Draft Grade — Browns

FutureC+
The Browns land in the muddy middle: C+. Boards are made to be trusted, and the Browns shredded theirs for Aaron Casey. He came off 45 spots early, and the room will hear about it. It washes out to a C+, no better and no worse.
The Legette pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch. The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.
They were the ones paying the moving tax this weekend. Job largely done: quarterback settled and 6 of 9 of the wish list covered.
Call it incomplete, and check back in a couple of seasons.
Pick Analysis
Pick56
Rnd2
Edgerrin Cooper
Edgerrin Cooper at Round 2, Pick 24 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick57
Rnd2
Ruke Orhorhoro
A reach on Ruke Orhorhoro in slot 57; the board had better options right there. The roster fit checks out.
Pick67
Rnd3
Xavier Legette
You do not let a wide receiver like Xavier Legette reach the 67th overall pick and blink. They did not. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick77
Rnd3
Patrick Paul
Value with a capital V on Patrick Paul in No. 77, a genuine coup. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick89
Rnd3
Kiran Amegadjie
Somehow Kiran Amegadjie was still sitting there in pick 89, and they pounced on premier offensive lineman value. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick93
Rnd3
Maason Smith
They reached into another round for Maason Smith, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick125
Rnd4
Mason McCormick
They reached a country mile for Mason McCormick at slot 125, and the board is aghast. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick165
Rnd5
Joe Milton III
Joe Milton III in Round 5, Pick 29 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick174
Rnd5
Malik Mustapha
Malik Mustapha at the Round 5 slot is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the safety. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206
Rnd6
Jaylan Ford
They took Jaylan Ford at par in the 206th pick, which is nothing to complain about. They added to a strength when a need was still open elsewhere.
Pick233
Rnd7
Kimani Vidal
Kimani Vidal at the 233rd overall pick is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. It fills a real need, too.
Pick243
Rnd7
Aaron Casey
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Aaron Casey. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick250
Rnd7
Anim Dankwah
Anim Dankwah in No. 250 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
