Draft Grade — Browns
Overall
C-
ValueB+
NeedA-
TradesF
FutureA+
A passer of the future in Dart, and a C-, for the Browns. Somewhere a general manager is explaining how Jason Marshall Jr. got past him. The Browns do not have to explain a thing at slot 113. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C-.
Jaxson Dart gives the offense a face and a plan, and the grade leans heavily on whether he hits. Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere.
They punted on edge rusher, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest. The veteran additions, Jayden Daniels chief among them, give the class a floor the rookies alone would not.
In the end, a coin-flip class: fine today, with a wide range of outcomes ahead.
Pick Analysis
Pick24
Rnd1
Jaxson Dart
In pick 24 they get their quarterback of the future at fair value. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick113
Rnd4
Jason Marshall Jr.
Jason Marshall Jr. in the Round 4 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick155
Rnd5
Connor Colby
Connor Colby in pick 155 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick177
Rnd6
Nick Martin
They read the board right and Nick Martin was the payoff at pick No. 177. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick178
Rnd6
Ricky White III
Ricky White III at the Round 6 slot is money in the bank, a wide receiver taken below his worth. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
