Draft Grade — Packers
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB- TradesA+ FutureA+
The Packers worked the phones like thieves and earned a A-.

The McCallan Castles pick is the one that will follow the Packers into the fall. They took him 93 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. It holds up to a second look, which is why it earns the A-.

The trade ledger is the best part of the whole weekend. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.

It is not that Bullard is a bad player; it is that the Packers had louder needs to answer first. The Leveston pick alone nudges the whole weekend up a notch.

Add it up and few war rooms did better this weekend, Tyler Nubin and all.

Pick Analysis
Pick38 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
Tyler Nubin at pick 38 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick51 Rnd2 Ruke Orhorhoro
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Ruke Orhorhoro. The roster fit checks out.
Pick58 Rnd2 Javon Bullard
A want over a need in the 58th overall pick: Javon Bullard adds a safety while quarterback keeps waiting.
Pick67 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
A reach on Sedrick Van Pran in the Round 3 slot; the board had better options right there. It fills a real need, too.
Pick69 Rnd3 Brandon Dorlus
Brandon Dorlus at pick No. 69 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick72 Rnd3 Austin Booker
Austin Booker at No. 72 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick88 Rnd3 Kris Abrams-Draine
They let Kris Abrams-Draine come to them and pounced at the 88th pick. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick89 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 89th overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick91 Rnd3 Cam Hart
No drama and no debate, Cam Hart went about where he belonged in pick 91. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick97 Rnd3 Audric Estime
A straight-up fair deal on Audric Estime at the Round 3 slot, value and slot in agreement. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick120 Rnd4 Javon Foster
Javon Foster at slot 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick127 Rnd4 Christian Jones
They went early on Christian Jones in pick No. 127, and the value did not follow. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick168 Rnd5 Luke McCaffrey
Luke McCaffrey at Round 5, Pick 32 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the wide receiver. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick173 Rnd5 Dwight McGlothern
By-the-book stuff, Dwight McGlothern at No. 173 squarely in line with his ranking. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick181 Rnd6 Sione Vaki
Sione Vaki is a better player than the Round 6 slot suggests; smart patience, rewarded. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick204 Rnd6 Nathaniel Watson
Nathaniel Watson in pick No. 204 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick216 Rnd6 JD Bertrand
JD Bertrand in slot 216 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Depth on depth, at a spot that was hardly crying out.
Pick219 Rnd6 Michael Barrett
Michael Barrett in Round 6, Pick 44 is fair value, right on his grade. Stacking talent where they were already deep.
Pick220 Rnd6 Logan Lee
This one needs a full-page explanation: Logan Lee in the 220th overall pick, miles early. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick230 Rnd7 McCallan Castles
They reached into another round for McCallan Castles, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick238 Rnd7 Edefuan Ulofoshio
Edefuan Ulofoshio in the 238th pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick243 Rnd7 Khalid Duke
Khalid Duke in pick 243 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick251 Rnd7 KT Leveston
KT Leveston slipping to No. 251 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
