Bray1689 DRAFTING FOR THECommanders

Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall

FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Commanders: B. The Commanders put a flag in the ground for R.J. Mickens, 45 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
That tight end hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. They banked enough surplus on Emmanwori to cover a lot of smaller sins.
A modest surplus at the table, banked quietly. The roster is better shaped than it was, with wide receiver chief among the fixes.
Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Nick Emmanwori
In the 29th pick they get a ballhawk on the back end, and a steal at that.
Pick64
Rnd2
Jayden Higgins
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jayden Higgins at pick No. 64. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick128
Rnd4
Bhayshul Tuten
A big swing on Bhayshul Tuten at No. 128, well ahead of any board in the building. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick132
Rnd4
Quincy Riley
Quincy Riley at the Round 4 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick134
Rnd4
Tyler Baron
They reached into another round for Tyler Baron, and the board is nowhere close to agreeing. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick168
Rnd5
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
They went early on Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 168, and the value did not follow. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick173
Rnd5
R.J. Mickens
A swing that ignored the value entirely, R.J. Mickens well ahead of where he belonged. Nice player, but the depth chart did not need him here.
Pick205
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick245
Rnd7
Dante Trader Jr.
Dante Trader Jr. at the Round 7 slot nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A want dressed up as a pick, at a spot they had covered.
