You can lose a draft before you make a pick. The Bills did it at the trade table, overpaying to chase players the board did not price nearly as high. About as rough as the board gets, and a F to prove it.

Leaving linebacker unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall. They will need Boyd to outplay his draft slot in a hurry to justify it.

Spend now, pay later; the math only works if this class delivers. They banked enough surplus on Devonshire to cover a lot of smaller sins.

Bottom line, it will take a lot of luck to make this look better later.
