Draft Grade — Bears
Overall B-
ValueC+ NeedB TradesA+ FutureD-
The Bears turned the phones into found money: B-.

The Bears ran the phones like sharks, prying loose value on deal after deal until the ledger was lopsided. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B-.

If Lawson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That running back hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall. Linton falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The Bears clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before.

In sum, a sturdy weekend with one asterisk, the running back spot they never got to.

Pick Analysis
Pick16 Rnd1 Kenneth Grant
In Round 1, Pick 16 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher, even if it was a touch early. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick33 Rnd2 Tyler Booker
Tyler Booker at the 33rd pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick55 Rnd2 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in No. 55 is fair value, right on his grade. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick73 Rnd3 Donovan Jackson
Donovan Jackson at the 73rd overall pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick80 Rnd3 Shilo Sanders
Shilo Sanders in slot 80 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick105 Rnd4 Jason Marshall Jr.
No drama and no debate, Jason Marshall Jr. went about where he belonged in pick 105. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick146 Rnd5 Reuben Fatheree II
A straight-up fair deal on Reuben Fatheree II at pick No. 146, value and slot in agreement. It fills a real need, too.
Pick169 Rnd6 Xavian Sorey Jr.
They paid sticker price for Xavian Sorey Jr. in the Round 6 slot, and that is fine. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick189 Rnd6 Steve Linton
A tidy bit of business in slot 189, where Steve Linton graded well above the range. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick208 Rnd7 Carson Hinzman
Carson Hinzman in the Round 7 slot is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick215 Rnd7 Deontae Lawson
They reached a country mile for Deontae Lawson at the 215th pick, and the board is aghast. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
