Brettpac3210 DRAFTING FOR THEBills
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Bills
Overall
B-
ValueB
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Bills: B-. If confidence were a draft strategy, the Bills would have aced it. RJ Oben at the 132nd overall pick is 94 spots clear of where he belonged. They moved the roster forward and banked a B- for it.
On value alone, Skattebo makes the weekend a net positive. A whole weekend of picks and linebacker is somehow still a want.
On the needs board they went 5 of 9, with interior defensive lineman the one that mattered most. They trusted the board more than the depth chart.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
Tetairoa McMillan
In No. 30 they get a home-run threat at receiver, outstanding value to boot. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick56
Rnd2
Alfred Collins
Alfred Collins at slot 56 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick62
Rnd2
Maxwell Hairston
Maxwell Hairston in the 62nd overall pick is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Andrew Mukuba
Taking Andrew Mukuba in the 109th pick is close to grand larceny; a safety that good had no business lasting this long. It fills a real need, too.
Pick132
Rnd4
RJ Oben
RJ Oben in Round 4, Pick 30 is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick169
Rnd5
Lathan Ransom
Somehow Lathan Ransom was still sitting there in the Round 5 slot, and they pounced on premier safety value. The roster fit checks out.
Pick170
Rnd5
Cam Skattebo
The board fumbled Cam Skattebo all the way to the Round 5 slot, and they scooped it up. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick173
Rnd5
Andres Borregales
Andres Borregales in pick No. 173 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick177
Rnd6
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in slot 177 is fair value, right on his grade. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick206
Rnd6
Cam Horsley
Cam Horsley at No. 206 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
