Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Steelers checked most of the boxes and earned a B-.

Boards are made to be trusted, and the Steelers shredded theirs for Jacob Rodriguez. He came off 35 spots early, and the room will hear about it. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B-.

The Muhammad value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. They punted on quarterback, and it is the miss that keeps the grade honest.

With quarterback, edge rusher and other spots unsolved, spending premium capital on offensive lineman is the choice that costs them. Interior defensive lineman is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

A tidy weekend of work that should hold up just fine.

Pick Analysis
Pick20 Rnd1 Carnell Tate
In pick No. 20 they get a difference-maker at receiver. A real need, handled.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jake Slaughter
Jake Slaughter is a better player than the 52nd overall pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick78 Rnd3 Caleb Tiernan
A want over a need in the Round 3 slot: Caleb Tiernan adds an offensive lineman while quarterback, edge rusher and other spots keeps waiting.
Pick84 Rnd3 Domonique Orange
Domonique Orange slid further than he should have, and pick 84 is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99 Rnd3 Malik Muhammad
Malik Muhammad at the 99th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It fills a real need, too.
Pick120 Rnd4 Jacob Rodriguez
Value said wait; Jacob Rodriguez in Round 4, Pick 20 says they were not listening. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick135 Rnd4 Tao Johnson
Tao Johnson slipping to pick No. 135 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
