Draft Grade — Raiders
Overall B
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureB-
The Raiders fleeced the room on the phones and earned a B.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Kendall Milton; the Raiders did not wait, grabbing him 180 spots ahead at the 239th pick. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.

They won the margins on every swap, and it adds up fast. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Linton. The wide receiver spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at.

They went 5 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick23 Rnd1 Nate Wiggins
In No. 23 they get a ballhawk on the outside, though they paid up to get him. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick50 Rnd2 Cooper Beebe
A market-rate offensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Cooper Beebe. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick55 Rnd2 Sedrick Van Pran
They liked Sedrick Van Pran enough to skip the value, taking him in pick 55. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick78 Rnd3 Quinyon Mitchell
A tidy little value on Quinyon Mitchell in slot 78, a step better than break-even. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick99 Rnd3 Bucky Irving
They took Bucky Irving at par in the Round 3 slot, which is nothing to complain about. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick114 Rnd4 Spencer Rattler
Spencer Rattler at the 114th overall pick is right where the board had him, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick115 Rnd4 Smael Mondon Jr.
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Smael Mondon Jr. at the 115th overall pick. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick151 Rnd5 Gabriel Murphy
Gabriel Murphy at pick 151 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick152 Rnd5 Malachi Moore
No drama and no debate, Malachi Moore went about where he belonged in the Round 5 slot. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick193 Rnd6 Steve Linton
They barely believed it either: Steve Linton still on the board at slot 193. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick235 Rnd7 Landon Jackson
Landon Jackson slipping to No. 235 is the kind of luck good rooms make for themselves. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick236 Rnd7 Dwight McGlothern
Good price on Dwight McGlothern in pick No. 236, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick239 Rnd7 Kendall Milton
A big swing on Kendall Milton at Round 7, Pick 19, well ahead of any board in the building. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
