The Lions got the worse of every deal, and it shows in the D-. The Lions spent real capital to be 49 picks early on Aaron Casey, and the board is going to hold them to it. The process wobbled, and the D- is where it lands.
They handed away value on the phones that the picks cannot earn back. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped quarterback, which is a strange place to end up.
Cornerback was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Stockpiling next year's capital is patient, if unglamorous, asset work.
Bottom line, they will need several of these picks to beat their grades just to break even, and quarterback is still a hole.
