Draft Grade — Raiders

The Raiders let Echoles fall and pounced. Final grade: B-.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Raiders were there to profit. Will Echoles, the No. 13 name on the board, should have been long gone before the 48th overall pick. A dependable weekend that grades out a B-.

If Harbor pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped cornerback, which is a strange place to end up.

They went 4 of 8 on their needs, which is most of what a draft is for.

Good work on the whole, with cornerback the one box left unchecked.

Pick Analysis
Pick15 Rnd1 Charlie Becker
In No. 15 they get a true top target, a steep price for the projection. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick48 Rnd2 Will Echoles
Will Echoles in pick No. 48 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick79 Rnd3 Nyck Harbor
A wild overpay on Nyck Harbor in the 79th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick117 Rnd4 Samson Okunlola
They barely believed it either: Samson Okunlola still on the board at slot 117. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick152 Rnd5 Jayden Jackson
A quiet steal in Round 5, Pick 15: Jayden Jackson for less than the market said. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick194 Rnd6 Mateen Ibirogba
You do not let an edge rusher like Mateen Ibirogba reach pick 194 and blink. They did not. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
