Draft Grade — Eagles
Overall B-
ValueB NeedB TradesD- FutureA+
The steal of the weekend belongs to the Eagles and McClellan: B-.

This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Jase McClellan, the No. 189 name on the board, stolen at No. 229.

They lost the exchange badly enough to drag the whole class down. If Nugent pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. Leaving edge rusher unaddressed is the roster risk they will have to answer for in the fall.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick50 Rnd2 Tyler Nubin
The board had Tyler Nubin higher than slot 50, and the safety fell to them anyway. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick53 Rnd2 Xavier Worthy
By-the-book stuff, Xavier Worthy at Round 2, Pick 21 squarely in line with his ranking. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick68 Rnd3 Jeremiah Trotter Jr.
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Jeremiah Trotter Jr. in the Round 3 slot. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick97 Rnd3 Caelen Carson
Nice patience on Caelen Carson, who had no business lasting to the 97th pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick160 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
A clean, defensible pick in pick No. 160 with a little surplus value in Jordan Travis. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick170 Rnd5 Caedan Wallace
They liked Caedan Wallace enough to skip the value, taking him in the 170th overall pick. The roster fit checks out.
Pick171 Rnd5 Jalyx Hunt
A market-rate S-EDGE, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Jalyx Hunt. It does not line up with the team's obvious holes.
Pick178 Rnd6 Drake Nugent
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Drake Nugent well ahead of where he belonged. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick189 Rnd6 Luke McCaffrey
They will replay Luke McCaffrey at pick 189 for years; that is how good the value is. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick229 Rnd7 Jase McClellan
Jase McClellan in the Round 7 slot is a gift, value that borders on unfair. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick240 Rnd7 Frank Gore Jr.
A quiet steal in pick No. 240: Frank Gore Jr. for less than the market said. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
