Draft Grade — Cowboys
Overall D+
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesF FutureA+
A costly weekend of dealing drags the Cowboys to a D+.

The Cowboys went off the board in a big way for Aaron Lewis, 42 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another.

The trade table is where this weekend went wrong. A whole weekend of picks and tight end is somehow still a want.

They banked enough surplus on Wilson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They left with wide receiver solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Add it up and it is a weekend the front office will hope everyone forgets, tight end very much included.

Pick Analysis
Pick24 Rnd1 Terrion Arnold
In No. 24 they get a press-man option on the boundary. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick26 Rnd1 Jordan Morgan
In the 26th pick they get an anchor for the offensive line at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick36 Rnd2 Xavier Legette
A reasonable price with a little left over, Xavier Legette in Round 2, Pick 4. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick39 Rnd2 Jackson Powers-Johnson
Jackson Powers-Johnson in pick 39 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick67 Rnd3 Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at the Round 3 slot is a conviction pick that outran the value. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick87 Rnd3 Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson in the 87th overall pick is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick105 Rnd4 Darius Robinson
They paid a round early for Darius Robinson in slot 105, more than the board wanted. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
Pick124 Rnd4 Jordan Travis
Jordan Travis in pick 124 is fair value, right on his grade. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick174 Rnd5 Jaylan Ford
No drama and no debate, Jaylan Ford went about where he belonged in No. 174. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick212 Rnd6 Jawhar Jordan
Jawhar Jordan slid further than he should have, and Round 6, Pick 37 is lovely value for the running back. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick245 Rnd7 Aaron Lewis
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Aaron Lewis. They doubled down on a strength rather than a need.
