Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
A passer of the future in Maiava, and a B-, for the Browns.

The Browns spent the pick that matters most on Jayden Maiava, and a roster that has been waiting on a passer can start to take shape. It does the job without flash, and the B- reflects it.

Bennee falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. The Mayo pick reads as want over need, and the roster will feel it at cornerback and running back. They will regret leaving cornerback for another day if the season turns on it.

Reaching for Rhodes Jr. left real value on the table behind him.

All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but cornerback.

Pick Analysis
Pick11 Rnd1 Jayden Maiava
In No. 11 they get a passer to set the clock by, reach and all. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick26 Rnd1 Will Echoles
In the Round 1 slot they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick57 Rnd2 Greg Johnson
Greg Johnson at slot 57 jumps the queue by a touch more than is comfortable. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick91 Rnd3 Quincy Rhodes Jr.
Quincy Rhodes Jr. in the 91st pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick116 Rnd4 Iapani Laloulu
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Iapani Laloulu at pick 116. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick120 Rnd4 Anthony Evans III
Anthony Evans III at pick No. 120 is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick127 Rnd4 Jalen Mayo
A surprising call. With cornerback and running back still to address, they spent the 127th overall pick on Jalen Mayo, a defensive back they were not short of.
Pick149 Rnd5 Brody Foley
They jumped the gun on Brody Foley, taking him earlier than his grade liked. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick162 Rnd5 Jackson Bennee
Jackson Bennee at slot 162 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. It fills a real need, too.
Pick230 Rnd7 Niki Prongos
Niki Prongos at No. 230 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. The roster fit checks out.
Pick246 Rnd7 Matt Rose
Matt Rose at the 246th overall pick is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. A minor itch, scratched.
