The Bills let Fortune fall into their laps, and walked away with a B.

When a board-topper like O'Donnell Fortune slides to slot 169, you do not overthink it, and the Bills did not. Call it a sensible B, earned the boring way.

For all the activity, edge rusher went untouched, which is hard to explain. The cost of the Hairston reach is exactly the players who went right after him. The roster is better shaped than it was, with linebacker chief among the fixes.

The weekend tilted hard toward the defense.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

In No. 30 they get a pocket-collapsing interior rusher at a price that makes it sweeter. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick56 Rnd2 Tyleik Williams
Tyleik Williams slid further than he should have, and the 56th overall pick is lovely value for the interior defensive lineman. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick62 Rnd2 Maxwell Hairston
They paid a round early for Maxwell Hairston in the 62nd pick, more than the board wanted. It adds depth where they could use a little.

Lathan Ransom in slot 109 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.

Nothing to complain about; Cody Simon went a shade earlier than his grade, which is fine. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
