Draft Grade — Giants
Overall C+
ValueD+ NeedB+ TradesB- FutureB-
Flashes of a plan, unevenly run, for the Giants: C+.

The Andrew Sprague pick is the one that will follow the Giants into the fall. They took him 68 spots ahead of his grade, and the board is not shy about saying so. Fine in stretches, shaky in others: a C+.

They banked enough surplus on Johnson to cover a lot of smaller sins. They will regret leaving safety for another day if the season turns on it.

Interior defensive lineman was the priority and it is no longer a question, which is most of the job. Building through the lines is a philosophy, and they stuck to it.

Hit on Andrew Sprague and the swing picks, and this ages a lot better than it grades today.

Pick Analysis
Pick26 Rnd1 Andrew Sprague
In slot 26 they get a building block for the line, though the board says they badly overpaid. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick58 Rnd2 David Stone
David Stone in pick 58 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick90 Rnd3 Jamari Johnson
Jamari Johnson in No. 90 is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick174 Rnd5 Nico Iamaleava
They will replay Nico Iamaleava at pick No. 174 for years; that is how good the value is. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick206 Rnd6 Mateen Ibirogba
Mateen Ibirogba in Round 6, Pick 26 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick208 Rnd6 Jordan Marshall
They robbed the room for Jordan Marshall here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
