Milky DRAFTING FOR THECardinals
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — Cardinals
Overall
B-
ValueC+

FutureB-
Nothing loud, just a tidy B- for the Cardinals. The move everyone will second-guess came early. The Cardinals reached some 82 spots for Tanor Bortolini, and value like that does not grow back. No fireworks, but a solid B-.
Bell falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch. On the needs board they went 8 of 8, with quarterback the one that mattered most. Almost all the early capital went to that side of the ball.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick4
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In the 4th pick they get a matchup problem out wide at fair value. The biggest hole, addressed.
Pick27
Rnd1
Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry at No. 27 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the cornerback. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick35
Rnd2
Bralen Trice
Bralen Trice in slot 35 is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick66
Rnd3
Trey Benson
Trey Benson at the 66th overall pick is the pick scouts circle, and not in a good way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick71
Rnd3
Mekhi Wingo
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Mekhi Wingo well ahead of where he belonged. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick90
Rnd3
Christian Jones
Value said wait; Christian Jones in pick 90 says they were not listening. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tanor Bortolini
They reached a country mile for Tanor Bortolini at the 104th pick, and the board is aghast. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick138
Rnd5
Ty'Ron Hopper
They talked themselves into Ty'Ron Hopper at the Round 5 slot, and the board did not agree. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick162
Rnd5
Jacob Cowing
A slide stopped in pick 162, with Jacob Cowing worth more than the price. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick186
Rnd6
Jaheim Bell
They robbed the room for Jaheim Bell here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick226
Rnd7
Taulia Tagovailoa
A wild overpay on Taulia Tagovailoa in pick No. 226, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
