FutureB-
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Washington: B. Somebody in slot 156 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Browns sat still while Malik Washington, the No. 117 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B.
If this class has a fault line, it runs straight through quarterback. Wide receiver is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
The offense got the lion's share of the attention.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick58
Rnd2
Troy Franklin
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Troy Franklin in Round 2, Pick 26, plain and simple. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick86
Rnd3
Payton Wilson
Payton Wilson at pick 86 is money in the bank, a linebacker taken below his worth. It adds depth where they could use a little.
Pick123
Rnd4
Beau Brade
Beau Brade at slot 123 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick126
Rnd4
Sataoa Laumea
Good price on Sataoa Laumea in the Round 4 slot, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. The roster fit checks out.
Pick156
Rnd5
Malik Washington
Steal is underselling it; Malik Washington at No. 156 is a heist with the alarm still ringing. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick204
Rnd6
Andru Phillips
Andru Phillips at pick No. 204 is the steal of the weekend, a first-round talent at a bargain-bin price. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick208
Rnd6
Jared Wiley
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Jared Wiley at the 208th overall pick. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick210
Rnd6
Rasheen Ali
Rasheen Ali at the 210th pick is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick239
Rnd7
Dylan McMahon
A tidy little value on Dylan McMahon in pick No. 239, a step better than break-even. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick247
Rnd7
Zion Logue
Zion Logue at slot 247 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the interior defensive lineman. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
