Draft Grade — Browns
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB- FutureB-
The Browns cashed the board's mistake on Jacobs: B.

Every so often the board makes a mistake, and the Browns were there to profit. Curtis Jacobs, the No. 175 name on the board, should have been long gone before the Round 6 slot. The bottom line is a respectable B.

They will regret leaving quarterback for another day if the season turns on it. The roster is better shaped than it was, with edge rusher chief among the fixes.

Solid rather than spectacular, and there is nothing wrong with that.

Pick Analysis
Pick56 Rnd2 Chop Robinson
Chop Robinson is a better player than Round 2, Pick 24 suggests; smart patience, rewarded. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick86 Rnd3 Junior Colson
A tidy bit of business in the Round 3 slot, where Junior Colson graded well above the range. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick138 Rnd5 Malik Washington
They barely believed it either: Malik Washington still on the board at No. 138. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick164 Rnd5 Justin Rogers
They did well to land Justin Rogers in the 164th overall pick, just ahead of his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick174 Rnd5 Chau Smith-Wade
Good things come to war rooms that wait, and Chau Smith-Wade at the 174th pick is the proof. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick210 Rnd6 Curtis Jacobs
Curtis Jacobs in pick 210 is a gift, value that borders on unfair. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick231 Rnd7 Miyan Williams
A running back of that caliber at slot 231 is the definition of value, full stop. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
