FutureB-
A solid, sensible weekend for the Packers: B-. Somewhere a scout is still blinking. The Packers spent the 230th pick on DeMonte Capehart, a name the board had a full 130 spots lower. A sturdy weekend that grades out a B-.
If one pick saves this weekend, it is Gore Jr.. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
They left with cornerback solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off. The skill positions did well by the weekend.
A competent weekend that does not make headlines and does not need to.
Pick Analysis
Pick9
Rnd1
Malik Nabers
In Round 1, Pick 9 they get a weapon on the perimeter at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Rome Odunze
The board fumbled Rome Odunze all the way to the Round 2 slot, and they scooped it up. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick43
Rnd2
Jordan Morgan
A straight-up fair deal on Jordan Morgan at pick No. 43, value and slot in agreement. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick80
Rnd3
Denzel Burke
A cornerback of that caliber at No. 80 is the definition of value, full stop. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick82
Rnd3
Tommy Eichenberg
Tommy Eichenberg in the 82nd pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Not urgent, but hardly pointless.
Pick109
Rnd4
Audric Estime
Audric Estime in pick 109 is exactly on the number, no argument either way. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick116
Rnd4
Christian Mahogany
Christian Mahogany at No. 116 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. The roster fit checks out.
Pick135
Rnd4
Luke Lachey
They paid up for Luke Lachey at the Round 4 slot when waiting would have done the job. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick187
Rnd6
Josh Proctor
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Josh Proctor. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick217
Rnd6
Frank Gore Jr.
Frank Gore Jr. in pick No. 217 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick220
Rnd6
Taulia Tagovailoa
Taulia Tagovailoa at Round 6, Pick 45 is the kind of overdraft that needs everything to break right. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick230
Rnd7
DeMonte Capehart
A wild overpay on DeMonte Capehart in the 230th pick, the sort that defines a class for the wrong reasons. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
