FutureA+
Good, not great, for the Bears: B+. Call it belief, call it a gut call, but Richard Jibunor at the 225th overall pick is 108 spots clear of consensus, and that is the headline.
A whole weekend of picks and running back is somehow still a want. Rasul Douglas gives the group a proven body among the projects. Job largely done: edge rusher settled and 4 of 8 of the wish list covered.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick1
Rnd1
Marvin Harrison Jr.
In pick No. 1 they get a true top target. A real need, handled.
Pick20
Rnd1
Xavier Legette
In the Round 1 slot they get a difference-maker at receiver at fair value. A clean fit for the roster.
Pick41
Rnd2
Cooper Beebe
Cooper Beebe at pick 41 is a conviction pick that outran the value. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick68
Rnd3
Princely Umanmielen
A straight-up fair deal on Princely Umanmielen at the 68th pick, value and slot in agreement. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick104
Rnd4
Tyleik Williams
A market-rate interior defensive lineman, with the board and the slot shaking hands on Tyleik Williams. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick132
Rnd4
Darius Robinson
They went early on Darius Robinson in Round 4, Pick 32, and the value did not follow. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick135
Rnd4
Jack Nelson
A reach on Jack Nelson in slot 135; the board had better options right there. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick141
Rnd5
Gabe Hall
A real head-scratcher, Gabe Hall in the Round 5 slot is miles ahead of his ranking. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
Pick182
Rnd6
Jordan Burch
They took Jordan Burch at par in Round 6, Pick 7, which is nothing to complain about. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick225
Rnd7
Richard Jibunor
This one needs a full-page explanation: Richard Jibunor in the 225th pick, miles early. Hard to map this one onto the depth chart at all.
