Draft Grade — Commanders
Overall
B-
ValueB-
NeedB
TradesB-
FutureB-
Good, not great, for the Commanders: B-. The Commanders treated their own grade as gospel and everyone else's as noise, spending slot 128 on Dont'e Thornton Jr. a full 54 spots early.
However the rest shakes out, Emmanwori at that price is a win they earned. The tight end hole is the one line item this class does not answer.
All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.
Pick Analysis
Pick29
Rnd1
Jack Sawyer
They took Jack Sawyer at par in No. 29, which is nothing to complain about. The roster fit checks out.
Pick61
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They will replay Nick Emmanwori at slot 61 for years; that is how good the value is. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
Pick128
Rnd4
Dont'e Thornton Jr.
Dont'e Thornton Jr. in the 128th pick is a bet on their own eyes over everyone else's grade. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick205
Rnd6
Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson
Good price on Brandon Crenshaw-Dickson in the 205th overall pick, a hair ahead of his grade with no real quibbles. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick245
Rnd7
Jaylin Smith
They went early on Jaylin Smith in pick No. 245, and the value did not follow. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
