More right than wrong for the Vikings, and a B to prove it. The Vikings went off the board in a big way for Jayden Virgin-Morgan, 28 picks early. Conviction is one thing; this is another. It nets out to a B, which feels about right.
The Jackson steal is the beam this whole class leans on. For all the activity, quarterback went untouched, which is hard to explain. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
All told, a solid class that does its job everywhere but quarterback.
Pick Analysis
Pick30
Rnd1
KJ Bolden
In Round 1, Pick 30 they get a rangy last line of defense at a price that makes it sweeter. Exactly the need they had to hit.
Pick62
Rnd2
Kade Pieper
Kade Pieper at the 62nd pick is money in the bank, a offensive lineman taken below his worth. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick78
Rnd3
Devan Thompkins
Devan Thompkins in pick No. 78 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick94
Rnd3
Nyck Harbor
A real head-scratcher, Nyck Harbor in pick 94 is miles ahead of his ranking. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick156
Rnd5
Elijah Paige
They talked themselves into Elijah Paige at slot 156, and the board did not agree. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick157
Rnd5
Jayden Virgin-Morgan
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Jayden Virgin-Morgan well ahead of where he belonged. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick167
Rnd5
Jayden Jackson
The board fumbled Jayden Jackson all the way to No. 167, and they scooped it up. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
Pick186
Rnd6
Drew Bobo
Drew Bobo at the 186th overall pick is neither steal nor reach, just the going rate. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick200
Rnd6
Jayden Bellamy
A slide stopped in slot 200, with Jayden Bellamy worth more than the price. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick212
Rnd6
Kayin Lee
A quiet steal in the 212th pick: Kayin Lee for less than the market said. Insurance at a position that did not really ask for it.
Pick230
Rnd7
Mason Curtis
Mason Curtis at pick 230 is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
