FutureB-
The Vikings cashed the board's mistake on Bond: B+. Somebody in pick 107 was going to get robbed, and it turned out to be the rest of the league. The Vikings sat still while Isaiah Bond, the No. 75 name on the board, slid all the way to them, then sprinted to the podium. A dependable weekend that grades out a B+.
The phones were where this weekend was really won. They covered a lot of ground and still skipped edge rusher, which is a strange place to end up.
If Wilson pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about.
In short, they left a little better than they arrived, which is the whole idea.
Pick Analysis
Pick37
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They stopped a slide they were happy to see, landing Nick Emmanwori in the 37th overall pick. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick40
Rnd2
Tyler Warren
They robbed the room for Tyler Warren here, a fall nobody at the table saw coming. It fills a real need, too.
Pick94
Rnd3
Jared Wilson
They liked Jared Wilson enough to skip the value, taking him in No. 94. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick103
Rnd4
Zy Alexander
They did well to land Zy Alexander in slot 103, just ahead of his grade. Useful body for a position without much behind the starter.
Pick107
Rnd4
Isaiah Bond
A top-tier wide receiver at a bargain, Isaiah Bond in pick No. 107, plain and simple. The roster fit checks out.
Pick108
Rnd4
Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe is a better player than the 108th pick suggests; smart patience, rewarded. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick139
Rnd5
Hollin Pierce
By-the-book stuff, Hollin Pierce at pick 139 squarely in line with his ranking. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick187
Rnd6
Jarquez Hunter
Jarquez Hunter in Round 6, Pick 11 is fair value, right on his grade. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick221
Rnd7
Alijah Huzzie
Alijah Huzzie in slot 221 is fine work, a shade of surplus and no downside. It is more luxury than necessity; they were already set here.
Pick222
Rnd7
Simeon Barrow Jr.
No drama and no debate, Simeon Barrow Jr. went about where he belonged in the 222nd pick. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick236
Rnd7
Kyle Monangai
Kyle Monangai at pick 236 is a first-round grade at a bargain-bin price, no notes. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241
Rnd7
Cam Jackson
The board had Cam Jackson higher than the 241st overall pick, and the interior defensive lineman fell to them anyway. It plugs a real leak on the depth chart.
