Draft Grade — Texans
Overall B
ValueB+ NeedB TradesB FutureB-
The Texans robbed the room for Skattebo. Final grade: B.

The board owed the Texans one, and it paid up: Cam Skattebo, the No. 99 name on the board, sitting there at Round 5, Pick 28 like a gift left on the doorstep. Nothing here to lose sleep over; call it a B.

The edge rusher spot stays a question, and it was the one they most needed an answer at. Every board in the league had Hook lower, and that gap is the story. Small wins on the phones, but wins all the same.

All told, a draft that does its job without fuss, and there is real value in that.

Pick Analysis
Pick37 Rnd2 Tyler Warren
Steal is underselling it; Tyler Warren at the Round 2 slot is a heist with the alarm still ringing. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick58 Rnd2 Aireontae Ersery
Aireontae Ersery slid further than he should have, and Round 2, Pick 26 is lovely value for the offensive lineman. It fills a real need, too.
Pick68 Rnd3 Tate Ratledge
Tate Ratledge in the 68th pick is exactly on the number, no argument either way. The roster fit checks out.
Pick79 Rnd3 Isaiah Bond
A clean, defensible pick in pick 79 with a little surplus value in Isaiah Bond. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick89 Rnd3 Denzel Burke
No drama and no debate, Denzel Burke went about where he belonged in the 89th overall pick. A minor itch, scratched.
Pick108 Rnd4 Jake Majors
Jake Majors at No. 108 is a sensible buy, a touch better than market for the offensive lineman. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick166 Rnd5 Cam Skattebo
Cam Skattebo in pick No. 166 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. That was the need underlined and circled, and now it is checked off.
Pick236 Rnd7 Teddye Buchanan
Teddye Buchanan at slot 236 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick241 Rnd7 Maxen Hook
They went early on Maxen Hook in pick 241, and the value did not follow. Useful depth more than a marquee fix.
