mcastro101 DRAFTING FOR THE49ers
Draft Selections
Draft Grade — 49ers
Overall

FutureB-
The steal of the weekend belongs to the 49ers and Smith: B. This is the pick they will still be bragging about in July: Brashard Smith, the No. 100 name on the board, stolen at Round 7, Pick 14. Solid and sensible more than spectacular: a B.
If McCoy pans out, nobody remembers the price. If not, this is the pick they hear about. That quarterback hole did not close this weekend, and it was the biggest one on the wall.
Job largely done: offensive lineman settled and 5 of 8 of the wish list covered.
Good work on the whole, with quarterback the one box left unchecked.
Pick Analysis
Pick11
Rnd1
Mason Graham
In the 11th overall pick they get a load in the middle. It fills the loudest need on the roster.
Pick43
Rnd2
Nick Emmanwori
They barely believed it either: Nick Emmanwori still on the board at pick No. 43. A minor need, but a need all the same.
Pick75
Rnd3
Donovan Jackson
A premium they did not need to pay, Donovan Jackson a notch or two before his time. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick99
Rnd3
Jihaad Campbell
Jihaad Campbell at No. 99 is daylight robbery; nobody expected him to last. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
Pick111
Rnd4
Jake Majors
Steal is underselling it; Jake Majors at the 111th pick is a heist with the alarm still ringing. They walked in needing this and walked out with it.
Pick137
Rnd4
Emery Jones Jr.
The board screamed and they did not listen, reaching into the next round for Emery Jones Jr.. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick185
Rnd6
Nazir Stackhouse
A clean, defensible pick in the Round 6 slot with a little surplus value in Nazir Stackhouse. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
Pick226
Rnd7
Jeffrey Bassa
Jeffrey Bassa in slot 226 should not have been possible, and that is the whole point. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick230
Rnd7
Brashard Smith
Taking Brashard Smith in pick No. 230 is close to grand larceny; a running back that good had no business lasting this long. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.
Pick249
Rnd7
Thor Griffith
Thor Griffith at the Round 7 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick255
Rnd7
Bru McCoy
Bru McCoy at slot 255 is an overdraft of the loud, memorable kind. This was priority one on the needs board, and now it is handled.
