The Saints did the meat-and-potatoes work well: B-.

You can hear the double-takes from here. The Saints took Hayden Conner at the Round 3 slot, roughly 116 spots before his name belonged. Call it a sensible B-, earned the boring way.

The Harvey value carries more weight than any single miss elsewhere. A whole weekend of picks and cornerback is somehow still a want.

They left with edge rusher solved and the rest of the wish list mostly ticked off.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Hayden Conner in the Round 3 slot is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. Better still, it is exactly the hole they had to fill.

The board had Charles Grant higher than the 111th pick, and the offensive lineman fell to them anyway. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.

They read the board right and Billy Bowman Jr. was the payoff at slot 130. Depth more than a fix, but depth they can use.
