A weekend the Saints spent ahead of the board, for worse: F. The Saints put a flag in the ground for Omar Speights, 102 picks before anyone else would have, and the value took the hit. The warnings were there, and the F is the bill.
Overpaying at the table undid a lot of the good work elsewhere. Whatever else happened, they won the night they took Laube.
The bill for those future picks comes due whether the class hits or not. Edge rusher is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.
There is no spinning it; the board won this weekend going away.
