Draft Grade — Browns
Overall A-
ValueC+ NeedB+ TradesA+ FutureA+
The Browns turned the phones into found money: A-.

The rest of the league had time to spare on Jaylen Reed; the Browns did not wait, grabbing him 84 spots ahead at pick No. 104. Just about everything broke right, and the A- follows.

They robbed the room blind at the table, and it lifts the grade on its own. Kone falling to them is the kind of break a good board is built to catch.

The Browns clearly valued win-now help, adding bodies who have done it before. Quarterback is handled and the depth chart looks a good deal healthier for it.

Few war rooms will sleep better than this one tonight.

Pick Analysis
Pick12 Rnd1 Mike Green
Mike Green in pick 12 is the kind of reach that only looks good if he outplays it. Top of the wish list, and they did not leave without it.
Pick33 Rnd2 Emeka Egbuka
A tidy little value on Emeka Egbuka in Round 2, Pick 1, a step better than break-even. A glaring weakness, addressed head on.
Pick52 Rnd2 Jonah Savaiinaea
Jonah Savaiinaea at slot 52 is a sound buy, the sort that quietly helps a class. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick67 Rnd3 Harold Fannin Jr.
Harold Fannin Jr. at the 67th pick is the sort of value that quietly wins a weekend. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick76 Rnd3 Jalen Milroe
Jalen Milroe at the Round 3 slot is a steep price for a hunch, hard to square with any board. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick92 Rnd3 Chris Paul Jr.
Chris Paul Jr. slid further than he should have, and No. 92 is lovely value for the linebacker. A quiet depth add at a thin-ish spot.
Pick94 Rnd3 Devin Neal
Devin Neal in Round 3, Pick 30 is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A sensible fit that makes the depth chart a little sturdier.
Pick104 Rnd4 Jaylen Reed
They talked themselves into Jaylen Reed at the Round 4 slot, and the board did not agree. A need, and now a little less of one.
Pick118 Rnd4 Will Howard
Quietly one of the better values of the day, Will Howard at slot 118. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick172 Rnd5 Robert Longerbeam
A swing that ignored the value entirely, Robert Longerbeam well ahead of where he belonged. A must-fix position, and they treated it like one.
Pick179 Rnd6 Tyler Cooper
Tyler Cooper in the 179th overall pick is a reach so steep the board needed a second look to believe it. A sensible fit for a spot that needed help.
Pick192 Rnd6 Nazir Stackhouse
Nazir Stackhouse in pick No. 192 is early enough to raise a brow, if not a full objection. One more legitimate question on the roster, answered.
Pick200 Rnd6 Tahj Brooks
Tahj Brooks at No. 200 is right where the board had him, plain and simple. It fills a real need, too.
Pick216 Rnd6 Jamon Dumas-Johnson
They reached a country mile for Jamon Dumas-Johnson at pick 216, and the board is aghast. A luxury on a unit that was already in good shape.
Pick255 Rnd7 Bilhal Kone
Bilhal Kone in the Round 7 slot is the kind of fall that makes a whole class. The one spot they could not leave alone, and did not.
