Draft Grade — Steelers
Overall B-
ValueB- NeedB TradesC FutureB-
Smith should have been long gone. The Steelers pounced, and earned a B-.

You can usually follow a front office's logic. This one is harder. The Steelers spent slot 119 on Blake Fisher while edge rusher, linebacker and other spots sat unaddressed.

The edge rusher hole is the one line item this class does not answer. That Smith pick is the receipt they will wave around later.

The Corley pick is the one the value grade keeps tripping over. The dealing tilted against them, just enough to notice.

Not a headline-grabber, but a perfectly good weekend's work.

Pick Analysis
Pick33 Rnd2 Kool-Aid McKinstry
Kool-Aid McKinstry in the Round 2 slot is a bargain the rest of the room will envy. A real hole, addressed with a reasonable pick.
Pick51 Rnd2 Malachi Corley
Malachi Corley at slot 51 is a clear overpay, with better names still on the board. Another box on the needs board, quietly ticked.
Pick65 Rnd3 Sedrick Van Pran
By-the-book stuff, Sedrick Van Pran at Round 3, Pick 1 squarely in line with his ranking. It thickens a room that could stand to be thicker.
Pick84 Rnd3 Michael Hall Jr.
No drama and no debate, Michael Hall Jr. went about where he belonged in the 84th overall pick. It answers the question that was keeping the coaches up at night.
Pick98 Rnd3 Khyree Jackson
Khyree Jackson at the 98th pick nudges the ledger their way without any fuss. It patches a soft spot without any drama.
Pick119 Rnd4 Blake Fisher
The eyebrow-raiser of the weekend. They went offensive lineman with Blake Fisher while clear needs at edge rusher, linebacker and other spots sat open.
Pick166 Rnd5 Jordan Travis
They took Jordan Travis at par in pick No. 166, which is nothing to complain about. The biggest hole on the depth chart just got a whole lot smaller.
Pick178 Rnd6 Tykee Smith
A top-tier safety at a bargain, Tykee Smith in the 178th overall pick, plain and simple. It also answers one of the loudest questions on the roster.
Pick195 Rnd6 Tahj Washington
A tidy little value on Tahj Washington in Round 6, Pick 20, a step better than break-even. It shores up a spot that genuinely needed the help.
